Saving as JPEG creates a compatible copy for a website, recipient, or workflow that does not accept HEIC. Decide where the copy should live before you begin so it is easy to find afterward.

01

Should you start from Photos or Files?

Choose Photos when the source is part of your iPhone photo library. Choose Files when the HEIC image is stored in iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, a downloaded folder, or another file location.

The source location does not change the target format. It simply determines where you select the image and where you may want the completed JPG to return.

02

Which JPEG settings should you choose?

Use JPG quality to control the balance between visible detail and file size. Keep the original resolution when full dimensions matter, or select an adjusted resolution when a smaller output is appropriate for the destination.

You can also keep or remove location information. Removing location metadata affects the output copy; it is not a substitute for reviewing other visible or embedded information before sharing.

03

Where should the converted JPEG be saved?

Save to Photos when you want the JPG alongside your photo library and available to photo-based sharing flows. Save to Files when a folder, document upload, naming workflow, or later file transfer is the better fit.

After saving, open the output from its destination. Confirm that the file is present and that its appearance and dimensions fit the intended use.

04

What if you need JPEG copies of several photos?

Use a batch when multiple images need the same quality, resolution, metadata, and destination choices. One batch is clearer than repeating the same configuration photo by photo.

See the batch HEIC-to-JPG guide for selection and verification tips when converting a larger set.

Common questions

Can I save a HEIC photo as JPEG without a computer?

Yes. Batch HEIC to JPG Converter converts the photo and saves the JPG output on the iPhone.

Can I save the JPEG back to Photos?

Yes. You can save the converted JPG to Photos, or choose Files when a folder-based workflow is more useful.

Does the JPEG replace the original photo?

The conversion creates a JPG result. Your original remains under your control in its source location unless you remove it separately.

Can I choose the JPEG resolution?

Yes. You can retain the original resolution or choose an adjusted output resolution.

Can I remove the photo location before saving?

Yes. Choose whether location metadata is kept or removed from the JPG output.
